Google Calendar Integration

Connect Google Calendar for Calendar Load and the Intent Ring.

Your time is your most finite resource. The Google Calendar integration brings your schedule into Lifestack so you can see how your day's demands compare to your body's capacity.

Overview

Connect your Google Calendar and Lifestack automatically syncs your events, meetings, and time blocks. This data powers the Calendar Load score on your dashboard, feeds directly into collision detection, and drives the Intent Ring on the Event Horizon radial clock.

How It Works

  1. OAuth 2.0 Connection: You authorize Lifestack through Google's secure OAuth flow. We never see your Google password.
  2. Automatic Sync: Events sync periodically via a scheduled background job. You can also trigger a manual sync from Settings or the Timespace page.
  3. Multiple Calendars: Connect more than one Google account. Events from all connected calendars are combined into a single view.
  4. Token Refresh: Google tokens are refreshed automatically so your connection stays active without intervention.

What We Sync

DataWhat It Captures
TimingStart time, end time, duration
Event DetailsTitle, description, location, organizer, attendee count
All-day EventsTracked separately; excluded from Calendar Load calculation
Event StatusConfirmed, tentative, or cancelled (cancelled events are excluded from scoring)
Event TypeDefault, focus time, out of office, or working location
Conference LinksGoogle Meet or other video conference URLs

Each sync covers a 60-day window (30 days before and after today). The raw API response is stored for future feature development.

The Calendar Load algorithm uses only timing and status for its score calculation. Other fields (title, description, attendee count) power the Timespace view, the Event Horizon visualization, and future insight features.

On Your Dashboard

Once connected, the Timespace card shows your Calendar Load score (0 to 100). This score reflects how packed your day is across four dimensions: density, duration, back-to-back meetings, and fragmentation. See Timespace for the full calculation breakdown.

If your Calendar Load is high while your Biological Capacity is low, Lifestack fires a collision warning, letting you know your schedule may be more than your body can handle right now.

On the Event Horizon

Calendar events appear as arcs on the Intent Ring (outermost ring) of the Event Horizon radial clock. On today's view, past events appear solid while future events appear faded, split at the current time. Hover any arc to see the event title, time range, and attendee count.

Privacy

  • Your calendar data is stored securely in your personal database partition
  • Data is never shared with third parties
  • You can disconnect at any time from Settings, which revokes access and stops all syncing

See the Privacy and Security page for complete details.
