Timespace

Calendar Load, Focus Score, and how Lifestack measures the weight of your day.

You look at your calendar and see meetings. Lifestack looks at your calendar and sees pressure: how packed your day is, how fragmented your focus time is, and whether you have any room to breathe.

Timespace combines your Google Calendar schedule with desktop activity from Pulse to answer two questions:

  1. How heavy is your day? (Calendar Load)
  2. How deeply are you focusing? (Focus Score)

Calendar Load

A single number from 0 to 100 that measures how demanding your calendar day is.

  • 0 means an empty calendar
  • 30 to 60 is where most knowledge workers land on a typical day
  • 100 means wall-to-wall meetings with no recovery gaps

Why it matters

Calendar Load is not just "hours of meetings." It captures four dimensions of calendar pressure: how dense your schedule is, how much total meeting time you have, whether you get breaks between meetings, and how often your focus gets interrupted. A day with 4 hours of evenly spaced meetings feels very different from 4 hours stacked back-to-back.

When your Calendar Load is high and your Biological Capacity is low, Lifestack fires a collision warning. That is the signal to lighten your load or protect recovery time.

Focus Score

When Pulse is connected, Lifestack calculates a daily Focus Score (0 to 100) that measures how deeply you concentrated.

ScoreLevelWhat it means
80 to 100Deep FocusSustained work in productivity tools, minimal switching
60 to 79FocusedGood concentration with some interruptions
40 to 59ModerateFrequent app switching or mixed tool usage
0 to 39ScatteredHigh context switching, little sustained attention

Connecting your data sources

Google Calendar

Go to Settings > Integrations, click Connect Calendar, and sign in with Google. Lifestack syncs a 60-day window automatically. Multiple accounts supported. See the Google Calendar integration page for details.

Pulse for macOS

Download Pulse, copy your API key from Settings > Integrations, and paste it into Pulse. Activity data flows in automatically.

Daily summary cards

When Pulse is connected, four summary cards appear on the Timespace page:

  • Focus Score with level tag and progress bar
  • Deep Work total time in productivity and design tools
  • Meeting Time total meeting duration and event count
  • Top Apps your five most-used applications for the day

Tips for better days

  1. Block focus time on your calendar to reduce Calendar Load and protect deep work
  2. Batch meetings into clusters to minimize context switching and fragmentation
  3. Review weekly to spot trends in meeting density and focus quality
  4. Keep Pulse running so your Focus Score reflects a full picture
